Captain

Yachts up to 30 metres · Placed on board as crew

Command of a yacht up to 30 metres on behalf of the owner, for cover, deliveries, yard and refit periods, or longer placements. You are employed by the owner. CBM Marine arranges the placement, reviews the quality of the work and provides technical support from ashore.

Key Responsibilities

Safe and efficient operation of the vessel, with regular reporting to the owner
Delivery of planned maintenance to the CBM maintenance plan, with every job recorded in the platform
Management of crew, the shipyard and contractors during the placement
Escalation of repeat faults and build deficiencies for root-cause investigation

Requirements

Master’s licence appropriate to the vessel, with a current medical certificate and STCW basic safety training
Proven experience in command, with references that can be verified
Sound technical understanding of vessel systems and maintenance
Strong organisational and communication skills

Engineer

Yachts up to 30 metres · Placed on board as crew

Technical role on board a yacht up to 30 metres, joining as crew for faults, planned maintenance, and yard and refit periods. You are employed by the owner. CBM Marine arranges the placement, scopes the work, reviews the result and provides technical support from ashore.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnosis of faults to their root cause, not only replacement of the failed part
Planned maintenance and technical repairs on engines, generators, electrical and hydraulic systems
Accurate recording of work, running hours and findings in the CBM platform
Work in accordance with written procedures, with each job signed off on completion

Requirements

Engineering certificate of competency or recognised technical qualification, with a current medical certificate and STCW basic safety training
Relevant experience on yachts or commercial vessels, with references that can be verified
Sound diagnostic ability and a methodical approach to fault-finding
Strong organisational and communication skills

Project Management & Technical Administration

Shore-based · Working directly with the founder

You will keep maintenance and refit work on schedule and on budget: work orders, parts, quotations, invoices and the technical record in the CBM platform. You will be the first point of contact for captains and owners.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and tracking of maintenance and refit work through to completion
Procurement of parts, review of quotations and checking of invoices against deliveries
Maintenance of accurate platform data and technical documentation
Liaison with captains, owners, shipyards and manufacturers

Careers At CBM Marine

CBM Marine supports the captains and owners of yachts up to 30 metres with technical management, planned maintenance and experienced crew. We are recruiting for the roles listed above.

Terms Of Engagement

Captains and engineers are employed by the vessel’s owner for the duration of the placement. CBM Marine does not employ placed crew. Terms and pay are agreed with the owner before the placement begins.

Selection Process

Candidates are assessed on qualifications, sea time and references before they are put forward to an owner. References are checked by speaking to the referee.
